Your retainers have been designed to maintain your teeth in their new corrected positions. Your dentist has prescribed the best retainer for you based on your original problem, course of treatment as well as your habits.
  • Brush and floss your teeth twice a day and following all meals.
  • Brush your appliance
  • Flossing aids such as threaders and superfloss should be used under your appliance
  • Use a water-pik to flush under your appliance.
  • Avoid hard and sticky foods
  • Avoid sugary snacks and drinks
  • Use orthodontic wax on your appliance if it is irritating to your cheeks and tongue

It is normal to experience extra saliva and slurred speech for the first few days. These will subside on their own before you know it.
